Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The US-owned online retailer Amazon announced that it will create over 100 positions at its new distribution centre in Łódź, Poland. The recruitment process has already started; currently, the company is looking for engineers, HR and IT specialists, warehouse staff, managers and OHS specialists. The centre, with an area of 40,000 square metres, will be Amazon’s ninth investment in Poland.
Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce company, currently has over 40 logistics centres in 8 countries and employs around 798,000 employees worldwide. Amazon has been operating in Poland since 2014 and employs over 16,000 people in eight distribution centres across the country. Previous restructuring in Amazon was announced in February 2020 (1,000 jobs created).
