Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The municipal company Grinda, which provides mandatory infrastructure maintenance services to the city of Vilnius, is to create 50 new jobs in the capital. Currently the company employs 444 employees. The company has already hired 30 people at the beginning of April 2020. According to the management, the quarantine is the right time to build the city’s infrastructure as the flow of vehicles and people is reduced in the city. To control the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), the Lithuanian Government declared quarantine on the entire territory of the Republic of Lithuania as of 16 March 2020.
Grinda is a municipal company that constructs and repairs/maintains the roads and pavements; cleans, scatters and washes the streets; deals with emergencies, etc. The total of the company's shares belong to the Vilnius city municipality.
