Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German fertiliser and salt producer K+S will be cutting 100 jobs at its plant in Herringen (Werra) by the end of 2021 due to internal restructuring. The job reduction is part of a larger restructuring programme called ‘Shaping 2030’ to make the company more efficient and profitable. The goal is to optimise processes. According to management, K+S will try to avoid compulsory redundancies and achieve the job reduction by natural fluctation.
Currently, K+S has 4,400 employees at its plant in Herringen (Werra).
