Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Lloyds Pharmacy, the UK-based pharmacy chain has announced that it is creating up 1,500 new jobs across the UK to help meet the increased customer demand in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. The new jobs include permanent and fixed-term roles but there is no detailed breakdown, such as dispensing pharmacists, pharmacy support and retail workers, as well as warehouse operatives and delivery drivers. The chain has also hired 406 pharmacy students on short-term contracts.
Lloyds Pharmacy has the largest community pharmacy network in the UK with more than 1,500 outlets. The brand is owned by McKesson Europe AG, the Germany-based global wholesale and retail company, which specialises in providing services to the healthcare and pharmaceutical and sector.
