Description
Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, the UK-based restaurant business, owned and led by the celebrity television chef, has temporarily closed all its 15 restaurants in London because of the COVID-19 outbreak and terminated the employment contracts of approximately 500 employees. The affected employees have been given four weeks’ notice at full pay, during which period they do not have to work.
Responding to criticism from employees and the media about the job cuts, a spokesperson for the company has said that the company is trying to retain as many employees as possible and added that the company welcomed the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme introduced by the UK Government.
Gordon Ramsay Restaurants has more than 35 restaurants globally, in Europe, the US and the Middle East.
