Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Tenneco, the US-based automotive parts manufacturer, the parent company of Federal Mogul Bradford Ltd, has announced a reorganisation plan with 140 redundancies at its Bradford plant, in the north of England.
A spokesperson for the company explained that the demand for the vehicle engine parts produced in Bradford has been declining and there were plans to transfer customer contracts and plant machinery from the Bradford site to a prospective buyer.
Tenneco has already started a consultation with employees and their representatives about the site’s future.
The Bradford site produces piston pins for engines used in cars and commercial vehicles.
