Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German cosmetics company Beiersdorf announced plans to relocate the production of its brand Florena and to close the manufacturing plant in Waldheim, county Saxony, unto 2023 which will affect 280 jobs. Simultaneously, Beiersdorf group is building a new plant in Seehausen, in the county of Saxony-Anhalt, where the production will continue. The company will offer all 280 employees a job at the new plant. For employees, which will not be able to relocate, Beiersdorf will develop individual solutions. According to management, technical difficulties excluded the possibility of building the new plant at the company’s site in Waldheim.
