Description
Lely, a Dutch manufacturer of agricultural machines specialised in manufacturing milking robots, has announced that it will double its production facility and offices located in Maassluis. With the expansion, 200 new jobs will be created this year. The new jobs include IT-architects, production activities and office jobs. The business expansion was announced after the publication of the operating results of last year, which showed a 46% increase in turnover. The company sees potential for further growth of sales, especially in the US and China. Construction of the new operating facilities is scheduled to start later this year.
Lely has now sold 40,000 milking robots worldwide. Two years ago, there were about 30,000. In total, Lely robots milk two million cows every day, two to three times a day. According to the company, around 35% of Dutch farmers use a milking robot, and Lely is the market leader. Market penetration in France and Germany is 20%.
